Malissa Thomas Named Assistant Superintendent of Caldwell County Schools

PRINCETON, Ky. – Malissa Thomas has been named the new Assistant Superintendent for Caldwell County Schools.

Thomas is a familiar face in the district, having most recently served as principal of Caldwell County Elementary School. Prior to her transition into administration, Thomas spent 17 years in the classroom as a special education teacher. 

In addition to her work as an administrator, Thomas also serves as the head coach of the Lady Tiger basketball team. She returned to the role in July 2024, having previously coached the team from 2010 to 2019.

Thomas holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University. She also earned an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Instructional Leadership, as well as a Superintendent Certification, from the University of the Cumberlands.

A Caldwell County High School alumna, Thomas was a standout multi-sport student-athlete. She continued her basketball career at the University of Memphis, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Special Education in 2001.

Thomas and her husband, Brock, reside in Princeton with their five children.

Thomas began her new role on July 1, 2025.
