Welcome to the site for the Transportation Department of the Caldwell County School System. We hope you will find these documents a valuable source of information regarding student transportation in the Caldwell County School System.
The Transportation Department assists the educational day by providing safe, professional and efficient transportation to eligible students to all approved activities. This includes travel to and from school, educational field trips, and other qualifying athletic events and competitions.
The task is a daunting one. Our buses travel over 400,000 miles each year and transport over 1,600 students each day. To put this number in perspective, those are enough miles to travel around the world 16 times.
The Transportation Department has over 50 fully-qualified drivers and substitutes, along with 2 full-time mechanics. Each driver goes through several days of training and must pass the CDL State Test in order to drive.
